August 27th – September 2nd
Today was an amazing first day in Saxon 4 Math! The lessons mainly dealt with addition and missing addends. We also touched on place value to the hundreds place.
In class, we covered lessons 1-4.
Students received:
- Timed Tests Lessons 1-4 – Complete one Timed Test per lesson. Each Timed Test has a lesson number on the top of the page that corresponds to the lesson. Parents. please correct.
- Lessons 1-4 Mixed Practice Problems. Use the book and complete all Mixed Practice problems for Lessons 1-4. Students were given answer sheet paper to show work and write their answers on for each lesson. If your child needs more space or has correction work, they may use paper from home. Parents, it is your responsibility to grade the Mixed Practice Problems. Students are to try to rework the missed problems and you should grade the reworked problems as well. If your child needs help, please reach out via email.
- Lessons 1-4 Lesson Practice Problems – completed in class. These can be used to help with the mixed problems from the lessons. These sheets can stay at home.
- XTRAmath.org log-in sheet for weekly online math fact practice. – 3 sessions completed on 3 separate days. I will have a report. Nothing needs to be brought back for XTRAmath.org.
Students will receive stars for each of the following work that is returned completed fully:
- Timed Tests for Lessons 1-4 – fully completed. Please time how long it takes to fully complete the Timed Test and write the time on the top of the page where notated.
- Lessons 1-4 Mixed Practice Problems – fully completed, graded and missed problems reworked.
- XTRAmath.org – 3 sessions completed on 3 separate days. I will have a report. Nothing needs to be brought back for XTRAmath.org.
Since there are only three students in this class, I truly feel that the students have a wonderful opportunity to receive a lot of one-on-one attention. This class is not a graded class, but I will send home tests periodically so that I can assess any areas of concern. I am so excited to see how much your child will grow in math this year!
If you have any questions, please email me. I will do my best to reply by the next business day. I will be out of town this holiday weekend and may not be able to reply until Tuesday.
Have a blessed week!
