Meet the 2022-2023 Instructors:

Ruthie Ammons

Ruthie Ammons homeschooled for 21 years and her last daughter graduated in May 2017. She taught in Texas public schools several years before her children were born, then taught homeschool classes, and then joined the CPC staff in 2016. She is married to Bruce, has 3 daughters, 2 sons-in-law and 5 awesome grandchildren. Bruce and Ruthie have been married for 39 years and are active at Sugar Creek Baptist Church, where Bruce is the pastor of Guest Ministries.

Jean Choleva

Jean Choleva has many years of experience teaching a variety of music classes, and has been with CPC since 2012. She has also worked with the Preschool and Children’s Choirs at Second Baptist Church and teaches music classes at Gymboree Play & Music. Currently, she teaches private piano lessons in Houston. She is also on the Preschool Department staff at her church, were she has worked since 2004. She is married to Jeff, has 4 children & 6 grandchildren. She is a member of Second Baptist Church.

Paul Jozwiak

Paul Jozwiak is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Education and an M.Ed in Education—Curriculum and Instruction. He was thrilled to join CPC in 2014, as he has taught 28+ years in public schools, 3 years at Living Water Christian School, and 6+ yrs at Logos Preparatory Academy, where he taught life science, earth science, biology, IPC, and marine science. Additionally, he worked with Science Olympiad, going to national competition for 5 years. Not only did he teach sciences, he also enjoyed coaching girls basketball and track. His passion is teaching, and the best part is seeing a student realize the vastness of God’s creation and how He has placed everything in perfect order.

Sheila Kleinhenz

Sheila Kleinhenz has homeschooled her six children for over twenty-five years. Before staying home, she worked as an office manager for several small businesses. Sheila has been involved teaching at numerous co-ops, ministering to children and youth in various capacities within her church, as well as serving as President of GCCHS for almost five years. She founded, organized, and maintained GCCHS Student Council as a parent sponsor for another four years. Sheila received THSC’s honorable Leader of the Year award in 2012. She has enjoyed sharing the role of co-director with Dee Pendergast and Ruthie Taft since 2015. Sheila has also enjoyed teaching and working with students in the Leadership Development class since 2016 and has a passion to see young men and women trained as servant leaders for the next generation.

Rey Lira has recently retired from the oil and gas industry after 40 years of service. During this time, he and his wife Linda enjoyed homeschooling their two sons for 13 years. Rey has been playing guitar for over 20 years and continues to enjoy teaching others and sharing the gift of music.
Dee Pendergast

Dee Pendergast graduated from Texas A&M University, with a B.S. in Political Science and a minor in Sociology. She also obtained her A.A.S. in Legal Assisting and worked as a Paralegal. Dee homeschooled her four children from birth - two Texas A&M graduates and two currently in college. Prior to joining CPC in 2011, she taught in various co-ops in Arizona and Texas and also taught private writing and geography classes in her home. Dee enjoys creating an environment in which students want to learn and develop a love for learning whatever the subject may be. She and her family are active members of Second Baptist Church. She has been married to her husband, Ross, for 30 years. Dee is also the CPC registrar and a co-director.

Tanya Przybilla has taught K-12th grade Spanish for 27 years. She has also taught different subjects for Logos for 15 years. In the past she has worked for Fellowship Christian Academy, Living Waters Christian Academy, and another homeschool co-op. Tanya has been married to her husband, Joey, for over 30 years, and they have four adult children and two beautiful grandchildren. She is a member of Sugar Creek Baptist Church.
Shanna LaRose Ramon

Shanna LaRose Ramon is a professional artist and homeschooling mom of three.  She loves painting and art of all kinds!  Shanna has taught art to her kids and to various classrooms of people throughout the years.  Painting and drawing since third grade, she has always taken art classes from elementary school to college, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Journalism.  With passion and laughs, she uses art to feed her soul and loves to teach others (especially kids) to think outside the box.  Visit her website at www.shannalarose.wordpress.com to see some of her artwork.  She currently works at Painting With a Twist as an artist/instructor.

Sue Stanley

Sue Stanley earned her B.S. degree in Mathematics from the University of Southern Mississippi and home schooled for 15 years. She was thrilled to join Christian Perspective Classes upon inception. ”I really enjoy working with my dear students. It is so rewarding to reveal the wonders of math and to see their faces light up when understanding dawns.”

Andrea Sylve

Andrea Sylve has taught in both public and private schools and was delighted to join CPC in 2014. She has a Master’s Degree in Education and holds the firm belief that learning best takes place when the environment is fun and engaging. Science and history are two subjects near to her heart. She says, "God reveals so much of Himself through the field of science. As we study His creation, we can deepen our understanding of our Creator. Also, the history of mankind has God's fingerprints all over it. He loves people, and people are made to worship Him. History reveals patterns of this relationship."  Mrs. Sylve is an active member of Grace Community Bible Church in Richmond and the mother of two homeschooled children.

Ruthie Taft

Ruthie Taft graduated from Texas A&M University with a BA in Mathematics with a Secondary Teaching Certification in Math. She taught 8th grade Pre-Algebra in the Klein school district in Spring, Texas for 5 years. In October 2006, she became a stay at home mom when her first child was born. She now has four kiddos and has been homeschooling since 2010. She has been with CPC since 2014. She also enjoys sharing the role of co-director of CPC with Sheila Kleinhenz and Dee Pendergast.

Heather Villareal

Heather Villareal joined CPC as a teacher in 2018/2019. Heather earned her BA in Counseling Ministries from East Texas Baptist University in 1997. She has teaching experience in the public school system, private school system, and as a homeschool mom for the past 16+ years. Heather has graduated two of her children, both now in college, and has one still at home. Teaching children is a passion of Heather’s, and she looks forward to using that passion to help educate the students whose families choose CPC as part of their homeschool path.

Deborah Whaley

Deborah Whaley is an honors graduate of Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Biomedical Science and a Secondary Science Composite Teaching Certification. She taught 13 years in public schools, both in Texas and Virginia, where she taught Physical Science, Chemistry, Physics, and the International Baccalaureate Physics program. She shares a fascination of God’s creation with other science “geeks” and loves how God reveals Himself in all that He has made. One of her great joys is making what seems to be an intimidating subject, like Physics, become understandable and applicable. She has 4 children who she homeschooled for over 14 years and has taught at CPC for 8 years.

Janet Wrenn

Janet Wrenn joined the CPC team in 2020 as their new Drama Director. She has been the drama director at Sugar Land Bible Church for the last five years, directing their VBS stage performances and Christmas programs. She has also performed in multiple theatre productions from A Christmas Carol to Wizard of Oz, which will allow her to teach both from an actor and director viewpoint. Janet also has a background in music, having played the violin for thirty-five years, and been involved in multiple choirs and madrigals. Janet is also a published author of twenty books. She looks forward to fostering students with their own love for the creative arts and build confidence in public-speaking.

Kathy Zimmerman

Kathy Zimmerman has been teaching at CPC since 2010. She has a B.A. in English, 25 years homeschooling experience, and 18 years experience teaching many homeschool classes including Worldviews, English, Writing, Speech, and History, privately, at ARC, SCHOLA, CPC, and Logos.  She is married to Jim, has 5 children and three precious grandchildren, and attends Sugar Creek Baptist Church.
