Today in class, the kids shared their compositions, we read a story in our workbook, and we read about Puerto Rico in our geography books and answered comprehension questions.

Below is the homework due on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 – (PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL HOMEWORK IS ALWAYS DUE AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS):

  1. Writing Assignment:  MY FAVORITE MOVIE. Share which is your favorite movie, give us a brief summary of it.  What makes it your favorite movie.  When do you watch it and with whom do you watch it.  It needs to be at least 20 sentences long.  Please type it doubled spaced.  Write in the present tense.  Use correct spelling, grammar, and sentence structure.

Today in class, the kids took their test, we read a story in our workbook and learned how to use prepositions that require the use of subject pronouns.

Below is the homework due on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 – (PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL HOMEWORK IS ALWAYS DUE AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS):

  1. Composition:  My Thanksgiving.   Write about your Thanksgiving traditions, how you celebrate Thanksgiving, etc.  Write in the present tense.  Use correct spelling and sentence structure.  Type it and double space it.  Minimum 15 sentences
  2. Finish exercises pages 240-242.  
  3. Write 10 sentences using por and 10 sentences using para.

Today in class, the kids took a quiz on the story that they read in class, and we learned the rules to use words that show obligation or need to perform a task in Spanish such as debo, necessito, quiero, tengo que, as well as the uses of the preposition por and para.  We also reviewed for the test that we will have next week.

  1. Study for test. Review verbs 219-221, adverbs, demonstrative adjectives, uses of para and por.
  2.  Finish completing exercises pages 231-234.  
  3. Complete worksheet for para/por.

Today in class, the kids shared their compositions and we took a quiz over the reading story that they had read for last week.  We practiced our new conjugations and completed some exercises in the workbook.  We ended class by reading a new story in our workbook and completing comprehension questions.
Below is the homework due on Wednesday, November 5, 2025 – (PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL HOMEWORK IS ALWAYS DUE AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS):
  1. Finish exercises pg. 221-224.
  2. Write composition:  (If I were to win $1,000,000…). What would you do with that money?  It needs to be at least 15 sentences.  Use correct spelling and sentence structure.
  3. Read Reading book story pages 44-47 and translate story.  
  4. Write 10 sentences using verbs from pgs. 219-221 – use a variety of pronouns for your sentences.

  2. Write 10 sentences using some of the verbs from this lesson pages 219-220. 
  3. Write about your favorite season (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter) – Why is it your favorite, what do you enjoy doing during this season, etc.). It needs to be at least 15 sentendes long. Type your composition.

Today in class we learned how to use adverbs in Spanish.  We also read a story from our reading book and translated it.

  1. Finish exercises pages 213-215.
  2. Write 10 sentences using adverbs.  
  3. Write a 10 sentence summary of the story on pages 32-36.  Review the vocabulary for the story.

Today in class, the kids shared their compositions on which is their favorite kids’ fable.  They had wonderful ones to share.  We learned about the demonstrative adjective Este, Ese, Aquel, Esta, Esa, Aquella, Estos (as), Esos (as), and Aquellos (as).  We also read a story from our workbook in class and answered comprehension questions.  Finally we reviewed how to write superlative sentences.

Below is the homework due on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 – (PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL HOMEWORK IS ALWAYS DUE AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS):

  1. Finish exercises pages 205-207.  
  2. Write 5 sentences each for este (a), ese(a), aquel (aquella).
  3. Reading book assignment:  Read pages 19 and 20.  Make sure you know the vocabulary words.  Translate the pages. Type your translation.
  4.  Write 5 sentences using superlative sentences

  2. Writing assignment:  Kids’ Fairy Tale – Tell which is your favorite kids’ fairy tale.  Summarize the tale and tell why it is your favorite, who would you hear it from, etc.  Needs to be at least 15 sentences long.
  3.  Read story page 201 and translate.  Type your translation.
  4. Write 5 sentences using comparisons of equality and 5 comparative adjectives

  1. Writing assignment – Pick a chore which is your favorite to do a home or one that you have to do. Describe what it is, why you like it or not, how often you do this chore.  It needs to be 10 at least 10 sentences long.
  2.  Finish reading story in reading book pages 9-10.  
  3. Translate story.  Type your translation.  Make sure you understand the highlighted words in the story.  There will be a quiz.

Today in class we finished reviewing chapters 13-16 and reviewed for the test that we will have next week.

  1.  Write a 10 sentence composition instructing a sibling to perform a household chore by using command verbs.
  2. Study for a test over the topics covered in the last 3 weeks (Chapters 1-16).
  3.  Read story on page 185 and translate into English.

We had a busy class reviewing Chapters 7-12 and playing jeopardy.  It is awesome to see that the kids have retained a lot of what they learned in Spanish 1!  I am very proud of them.  The kids did an excellent job with their posters.

I was very impressed to see how much the kids remembered from Spanish 1.  For these first 3 weeks, we will be reviewing what we  learned in Spanish I.  We covered today Chapters 1-6 of our book.  Next week we will cover Chapters 7-12.

Below is the homework due on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 – (PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL HOMEWORK IS ALWAYS DUE AT THE BEGINNING OF CLASS):

  1. Practice conjugation verbs by completing the worksheet given out in class and conjugating the following verbs in the present tense:  Nadar, correr, abrir.
  2. Write 10 sentences describing your summer vacation,  Make sure grammar and sentence structure is correct.
  3. Make a poster of your summer vacation with pictures (can be of several activities or a highlight of your summer vacation.  Make sure that you write descriptions in Spanish under your pictures.
