*NOTE: There is a minimum of 5 students required for this class to progress. Motivated/mature 7th or 8th graders can register for this class upon instructor approval.

Course Description: This class will introduce students to the beautiful Spanish language. We will begin by learning the alphabet, numbers, days of the week, months of the year. We will also learn and expand our vocabulary in each lesson, along with exploring the Spanish culture – past and contemporary, through reading short fun stories in class and translating stories, along with reading comprehension. We will practice dialoging in class and asking questions. We will learn verb conjugation in the present tense for regular and irregular verbs, the use of adjectives, comparison, demonstrative adjectives, adverbs. The kids will also begin writing small paragraphs for assignments in this class to help them incorporate their understanding of Spanish grammar and communication. This course will cover Chapter 1-16 of the textbook. Homework will consist of 4 hours of work weekly, including writing vocabulary flash cards and practicing, completing workbook exercises, reviewing material learned in class, answering comprehension questions, translating stories, writing short reports or dialogs.
