Course Description: Western Literature, Grammar, and Writing takes students on an survey of Western Civilization as we study the exciting historic fiction, spanning Ancient Egypt through modern times. Students will master the broad sweep of the history Western Civilization, experiencing the time periods through engaging stories and characters. Students develop vocabulary, literary, and writing skills through regular essay assignments that interact with the nine novels being studied, as well as completing projects and presentations on different time periods, figures, and events. Grammar is studied with Shurley English Level 6. Students should be expected to work on assignments at home at least 2-3 hrs each week.

Three-ring binder with five dividers (Assignments, Writing, Vocabulary, Maps, Timeline) and looseleaf paper
Pencils, pens, highlighters, red pen
