5-6 World History – Story of the World Vol. 2 The Middle Ages 2018-2019
Thursdays, 10:30 – 12:00

Class Tuition:  $450 per year or 10 equal installments of $45. 

Supply fee:  $50 per year, due at registration

*NOTE: There is a minimum of 6 students required for this class to progress; maximum is 12.

Course Description:  In this class, we will explore world history and cultures from the Middle Ages. Class times will be filled with hands-on activities, maps, worksheets, timelines, and artistic projects. Exciting world events from this time period include: the dynasties of Japan and China, great kings of France and England, the Crusades, Martin Luther and the Reformation, the Renaissance, and the discovery of the New World.

With 42 chapters to cover, most weeks your child will be expected to read one chapter; some weeks students will be asked to read two chapters. The curriculum includes a test booklet, which will be used as homework questions. Additionally, students will be assigned two research projects: a geography-based project in the fall and a biographical project in the spring. Students should be expected to work on assignments at home at least 3 days each week.

***This year we are offering a History Literature Club which will correspond directly with this course. The History Literature Club will be offered Thursdays, 9:30 – 10:30

Required Material:
The Story of the World, Volume 2: The Middle Ages textbook
Corresponding test booklet, and corresponding activity manual (consumable portion)
Optional: CD audio version of the textbook is available for reluctant readers.

Required Supplies: colored pencils, glue, scissors, notebook paper, pocket folder, 3-ring binder.
