Course Description: 5-6 Language Arts will help students improve their communication skills through reading, grammar, writing, poetry, and vocabulary. Each week students will read stories about American adventures, medieval knights, make-believe lands, legendary islands, and other fun experiences. We will use a variety of exercises to explore these stories to grow comprehension and writing skills. Rod & Staff’s English 5 is a solid, comprehensive program that teaches grammar and mechanics. Vocabulary from Classical Roots is a thematically-organized vocabulary program that systematically instructs students about Greek and Latin roots. Students should expect to work on assignments at home at least two to four hours each week.
