5-6 Grammar & IEW Writing 2017-2018

Class Tuition: $400 per year or 10 equal installments of $40

Supply Fee: $65 per year, due at registration

Homework: 1-2 hours a week

Course Description: In this class, students will be trained in basic writing skills. Students will be exposed to The Student Writing Intensive Level B (Institute for Excellence in Writing), learning how to write with “structure and style.” Different types of creative writing will be explored, along with writing which interacts with literature. Two novels (available at the library and of modest length) will be assigned each semester. Students will participate in “writing workshops” in class and have writing assignments to be done at home. Students will also improve their grammar skills through instruction and practice, using Rules of the Game 1.
