Course Description: For the grammar component, we will be using Grammar for the Well-Trained Mind, Student Workbook 1.  This program provides clear and detailed exercises in the correct use of English grammar.  Examples are based on great works of literature, as well as classic and contemporary works of science and history.  However, we will not be diagramming sentences as offered in the book.  Those exercises are optional and will not be graded.  5-6 Vocabulary quizzes will be given throughout the year.

For writing, we will be using IEW’s “Medieval History-Based Writing Lessons”.   This class will reinforce writing skills learned in Level A and introduce Level B skills and techniques. Student does not need to have taken Level A.  Writing lessons will enhance the 5-6 Middle Ages History class.  Students should expect to work on assignments at home at least 4 days each week.

A Literature component may be implemented.
